The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL)
APRIL (The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living) is a national organization advancing the rights and independence of people with disabilities in rural America. They needed a way to manage memberships, run annual elections, and connect their members across the country, all in one accessible place. We built them a secure member portal that handles it all without adding complexity to their small team's day-to-day.

The challeges we overcame
APRIL was managing memberships, voting, and member communication through disconnected tools and manual processes. With members spread across rural communities nationwide, they needed a single, accessible hub where people could log in, find each other, vote during elections, and renew memberships, all while meeting strict accessibility standards.
What we did to make it better
We designed and developed a custom member portal in Webflow integrated with Memberstack for authentication and Jotform for voting workflows. Members can sign up, browse a searchable directory, access gated resources, and cast votes during election season through unique codes. Payment processing for membership renewals runs through Stripe, and Zapier automations handle account creation behind the scenes. Accessibility was embedded at every level, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards throughout.
